Wisdom Teeth

What are wisdom teeth?

Third molars are commonly referred to as wisdom teeth. They are usually the last teeth to develop and are located in the back of your mouth, behind your second molars. Their development is usually completed between the middle teenage years and early twenties, a time traditionally associated with the onset of maturity and the attainment of wisdom.

Dr. Clardy completed a General Practice Residency after graduating from the dental program at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. During this two year program he received expanded training in oral surgery,  trauma, pediatric dentistry as well as sedation dentistry. Dr. Clardy obtained his state board certification in IV sedation, enteral oral conscious sedation, and nitrous oxide anesthesia and maintains that state certification.  Given this extending training and certification he can remove most wisdom teeth, but certain complex cases may need to be referred to a board certified oral surgeon for removal.
